The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, the American Embassy and VH1 bring to India for the fourth year the Monk Institute's jazz education and cultural tour in late January. Among the musicians who will perform and conduct master classes in Mumbai and New Delhi are Grammy Award-winning jazz keyboardist, arranger and producer Bob James (above), rhythm-and-blues and jazz singer Patti Austin (right), and guitarist Earl Klugh (above right).

The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, a nonprofit education organization based in Washington, D.C., was founded in 1986 by the Monk family along with the late opera singer Maria Fisher. Its mission is to offer the world's most promising young musicians college level training by America's jazz masters and to present public school-based jazz education programs for young people around the world.
