Relations are the way in which two countries are connected and according to me elections might   lead to an upshot wherein people will think that election will have an impact on relations but the reality is elections won’t have any effect on U.S. - India relations. Elections will change the face of the person in power but cannot change the policies which are planned by the respective diplomats of two countries as these policies are not based on the time period of the person in power but these policies are in pipeline for years and their execution and implementation takes a lot of time but yes, one thing that can’t be ignored is the person in the power has lot to do to push these policies to reduce the time period of the process of these policies, so as they turn out as objective reality.

For instance – The Nuclear Deal between Iran and United States was in pipeline for long time but President Obama played an active role to complete this deal as the person in power becomes face and can thereby, reduce the time period of policy coming into existence or can delay it as per the interest of the country. The person in power can provide a push in getting things done without delaying it for longer period of time.

The real people who hold power are diplomats they decide the move of the country regarding relations and policies. The policies for external matters are drafted by the diplomats either pacts or anything they are the people who frame it and finally people in the power sign them, even for investing any amount of taxpayer’s money the president cannot simply do as he wants too, rather the president needs to first get the budget passed and approved by the U.S. Congress.

During on-going election campaign in United States, Donald Trump the presidential candidate from republicans said that he will cancel Paris Climate Agreement which is also not possible as such Agreement cannot be cancelled by the President. As country’s low emissions action plans cannot be changed by the President. During elections many things are said but issues or actions regarding foreign policies are handled by the senior executives or diplomats, the President cannot come and suddenly change the policies regarding a particular country.

Though as per reports by the Indian Media, Ms. Hillary Clinton if becomes the President will enhance ties with India as said by the John Podesta, Chairman of campaign committee for Ms.Hillary, he also stated that the future administration under Ms. Clinton will have notable presence of Indian- Americans.
